Brewing up success with two awards at the Leicestershire Tourism and Hospitality Awards!
We scooped up two awards at the prestigious Leicestershire Tourism and Hospitality Awards at the glittering ceremony at Athena in Leicester.
Its National Pizza Day and we love nothing more that chatting food and drink.
So, we asked around the team to find out where to find the best dine-in pizza places in Leicestershire and of course we had the pineapple on a pizza debate..... who doesn’t!
So, here are our top five...
Martin Bros. Micropizzeria – Clarendon Park, Leicester
This lovely Neapoli eatery scored highly with the Italian members of our head office team.
Pas heads up our bar and loves it for its authentic Naples style and simple but flavoursome ingredients, he wasn’t the only one in the team with Martin Bros. sitting at the top of their list.
The pizza we love: Margherita, with added burrata
Beer match: Tank Lager pairs wonderfully with this topping as it's light, clean and crisp.
Bradgate Arms, Newtown Linford
This fine country pub, next to Leicester's beautiful Bradgate Park was given a big thumbs up by those with children or grandchildren, like Michelle in our office team. What better way to encourage little ones to enjoy a nice walk than to finish it with a delicious pizza, the stone-baked thin-crust pizzas served here do not disappoint.
The pizza we love: The Newton – Ham and pineapple
Beer match: American Pale, the citrus character works well alongside the meat making an interesting combination and the zesty carbonation cuts through the sweetness in the fruit.
Peter Pizzeria, Leicester City Centre
This popular pizza joint, prides itself on its authentic, traditional, Neapolitan pizza and was loved amongst us for its array of quirky toppings. It also got a big thumbs up from the tomato haters amongst us as they let you choose between a tomato or non-tomato base. It seems not everyone in the team is a fan of a tantalising tomato base on their pizza.
Pizza we love: Divola - Tomato sauce, smoked mozzarella spicy salami and fresh chilli for the no saucers amongst us Caprese – Cherry tomato, mozzarella, rocket, Parma ham. Parmesan shavings and olive oil
Beer match: New World IPA with its bold, tropical flavours stand up to the heavily loaded meat on the pizza, cutting through those rich flavours and cleansing the palate.
The Stamford Arms, Groby
Not far from Everards HQ and Beer Hall, The Stamford Arms was sure to make this list. With many of our team living close by and looking for a ‘get out of cooking dinner card’ this lovely village pub is certainly calling! It seems that their tasty stone baked pizza menu isn’t short of delicious and intriguing offerings. The guys at the Stamford Arms are doing a buy 1 get 1 half price on their delicious pizzas on National Pizza Day on Thursday 9th February so what better excuse do you need to get involved?
Pizza we love: Tennessee – Tomato, Mozzarella, Chicken, Bacon, BBQ Sauce
Beer match: Tighthead – The smoky flavours in the beer pair perfectly with the roasted, caramel notes in one of our most popular beers, which is back for the duration of the Six Nations.
The Bluebell Inn, Desford
This lovely village pub made a splash with the team during lockdown, when a takeaway was the highlight of our week, the superb pizzas on offer here with dough made fresh every day, filled that takeaway craving and we continue to enjoy it just as much now, in fact, even more as we can sit in and enjoy the surroundings inside this lovely pub.
The pizza we love: Vegetariana – red onion, sweetcorn, peppers, olives, mushrooms, rocket and balsamic glaze
Beer match: Sunchaser makes the perfect choice as it has delicate citrus and honey notes which lift the flavours without overpowering the delicate vegetable flavours.
These five will certainly take some topping but hey we are always up for trying more pizza!!
