Celebrating three medal wins at the International Beer Challenge!

Sunchaser strikes gold, with Old Original and Tiger picking up bronze!

We’re celebrating after three of our long-established beers were recognised at this year’s International Beer Challenge, with our refreshing and zesty Sunchaser golden ale taking home a gold medal in the British-style golden ales (2.9% - 4%) category.

There was more to celebrate too, with our rich and ruby Old Original ale awarded bronze in British-style strong ales (5.1% - 7.4%), while our iconic Tiger also picked up bronze in the design and packaging awards for its fierce, bold and distinctive design, which we refreshed earlier this year.

The International Beer Challenge celebrates excellent beers from around the world, with entries spanning all styles and strengths. This year’s competition attracted beers from more than 30 countries, bringing together entries from established brewing heartlands alongside some of the world’s emerging beer-producing nations.

The judging process is anything but a quick sip and a tick in a box. Each beer is carefully assessed for its appearance, aroma, taste and finish, before judges discuss their findings with fellow table members and agree on the medal each beer deserves.

The judging panel includes some of the most experienced palates in the industry, with retailers, importers, publicans, brewers, writers and flavour analysts all bringing their expertise to the table.

For us, the results showcase the breadth of our brewing range – from the bright, zesty character of Sunchaser to the rich, ruby and full-bodied flavour of Old Original.

“We’re absolutely delighted to see three of our beers recognised at the International Beer Challenge. Gold for Sunchaser is a fantastic result, particularly in a competition that brings together beers from across the globe and is judged by such an experienced panel.

“Old Original picking up Bronze makes it even better. They’re two very different beers, but that’s what we love about brewing – there’s always room to create something different, while continuing to champion the beers like Sunchaser, Old Original and Tiger that our drinkers know and love.

“We’re especially excited to see Tiger recognised with a Bronze for its new packaging design. We gave the iconic Tiger a refresh back in February, creating a bolder, more distinctive look designed to really stand out on the bar and catch the eye of drinkers. It’s fantastic to see the new design getting recognition!”
